At approximately 3:15pm this afternoon Mahopac Falls Fire along with Carmel Police Department, NY were dispatched to an odor of smoke in the area of Gleneida Boulevard.

Upon arrival, Carmel PD confirmed a small brush fire within close proximity to a deck attached to a home. With quick thinking, the officers utilized the garden hose connected to the residence and were able to prevent the fire spreading to the home.

Once on scene, Mahopac Falls crews stretched a line and started extinguishing the remaining fire and searched for hot spots. Once the fire was completely extinguished, the crews overhauled the area to prevent a rekindle.

Mahopac Falls Fire was back in service at approximately 3:40pm.
