At approximately 4:30 this afternoon, Mahopac Falls Fire and Carmel PD were dispatched to an open burn in the area of Eagle Hill Road.

Upon arrival, Captain Stasiak found a large pile of brush on fire. Members stretched a line and began to extinguish the fire. Chief Meury took over command as members continued rake the brush to expose hot spots.

Mahopac Falls Fire was back in service at 5:10pm.

We want to take this opportunity to remind the residents of Putnam County that there is a NYS BURN BAN IN EFFECT starting March 16 and ending May 14, 2022.
