| Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2pm, the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle fire on Varna Lane.
Units were dispatched for a working vehicle fire involving a USPS delivery truck. Upon arrival, crews confirmed an active fire and quickly stretched two hose lines to contain and extinguish the flames. The fire was brought under control and there were no reported injuries.
Captain Kelly was on scene and assumed command. A small fuel spill entered a storm drain, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was notified and assigned a spill number. Command coordinated with the appropriate agencies to address the situation.
Thank you to our firefighters for their quick response and to our mutual aid partners for their support. We also thank residents in the area for their patience while crews operated on scene. |
