| This afternoon at approximately 3:00 PM, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, along with EMS and Carmel Police Department, were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Hill Street and Hitchcock Hill Road.
Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Tompkins confirmed a one-story home with active flames showing on the right side of the residence. Acting swiftly, he forced entry through the back door and used a fire extinguisher to knock down the majority of the flames before 19-4-3 crews arrived on scene. Firefighters stretched a hose line to fully extinguish remaining hot spots and begin overhaul operations.
With the fire confirmed, Putnam 911 activated a working fire assignment, bringing additional resources to the scene. Mahopac VFD’s 18-5-1 assisted on site, while 18-4-1 stood by at our quarters to ensure continued coverage for our community.
A tremendous job by all personnel involved in quickly bringing this fire under control. Thank you to our mutual aid partners and first responders for their dedication and teamwork.
We remind everyone to check your smoke detectors regularly and have an emergency plan in place. |
