The Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department Dive Team is trained in Black water rapid rescue and recovery operations, from drowning victims to evidence recovery, as well as ice diving operations. The team responds to incidents for a majority of the water related incidents in Putnam County as well as other districts when requested. The dive team currently has 27 Divers with 9 complete sets of gear ready to deploy at a moment’s notice.
When the Mahopac Falls Dive Team is requested, we are coming to assist any agency in the operation-we are not coming to take over the scene. When requested for a response, we will respond with several pieces of apparatus to conduct our operation effectively. These include our heavy rescue which responds to transport our divers and have them dress on the way to the scene, as well as provide the capability to fill our SCUBA tanks on scene in case of a prolonged operation, our brush truck and dive trailer which carries the extra dive equipment which includes a 12 foot inflatable boat, an ambulance will respond as a standby rig for our divers.
