Just after 10am this morning (Mon. 12/3), the Mahopac Falls Fire Department was dispatched to an activated fire alarm at the Mahopac High School. Responding within minutes with a first due Pumper/Tanker and Heavy Rescue, firefighters found the principal at the curb waiting for them. Reporting a faulty detector head at the rear of the building, firefighters were taken to the site by custodians and School Resourse Officers from the PCSO. While exterior crews stayed at Staging, it was noticed how safe, quiet and orderly it was on the grounds. Looking around, it was apparent that the scene was under control, from the principal being in plain sight with a radio to the interior custodians for constant updates to the students who were quiet and orderly, able to hear any commands given, to the teachers, monitors and support staff that kept students safe from traffic and responding apparatus and in designated areas a safe distance from the building. These actions are what will keep people on the campus safe and all those that we encountered are to be commended for a job well done.
