| This morning, the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department responded to the area of Secor Road and Sugarbush Court for a reported transformer and wire fire.
Upon arrival, crews found live power lines down and a small brush fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the brush fire and secured the scene while the area remained energized. Power was temporarily shut off so NYSEG could safely complete repairs to the damaged lines.
The roadway has since reopened, and the scene has been cleared.
Please remember, if you encounter downed power lines, always assume they are energized. Stay well away, keep others clear of the area, and immediately notify 911. |
