Yesterday afternoon at approximately 5:45 PM, the Mahopac Falls Dive Team was dispatched to assist the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department with a water rescue on Lake Mahopac near East Lake Blvd and McMahon Place.

Emergency crews were called after a vehicle drove onto the lake from the park area and broke through the ice, leaving the occupant trapped inside the vehicle.

Members of the Mahopac Falls Dive Team quickly suited up and entered the water. Divers located the vehicle and successfully removed the individual from inside. The patient was then transported by ground ambulance to Putnam Hospital Center.

Fire, EMS, police, and dive teams worked together to secure the scene, manage traffic in the area, and safely remove the vehicle from the lake.
