We Will Never Forget

For many of us, the events of 9/11 are still hard to fully put into words. Some lost family and friends, while others carry the indelible memory of two planes crashing into the World Trade Center. Some reading this today weren't even born yet. But what unites us all is the responsibility to never forget.

We must remember the 343 firefighters, 37 Port Authority police officers, 23 NYPD officers, and 8 EMS personnel who gave their lives, saving thousands in the process. We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent souls who were lost that day and honor their memory. We also remember the countless military heroes who later fought to protect this country, many paying the ultimate sacrifice.

On September 11, 2001, this nation came together as one. Strangers became brothers and sisters in a shared grief and unity. As you go through your day today, remember those who, 23 years ago, were doing the same simple things—grabbing coffee, going to work, preparing for school—before 8:46 a.m. changed everything.

Take a moment to honor them today. Say a prayer, attend a memorial, or simply reflect on the gift of each day. And, if you see a first responder, a firefighter, police officer, EMT, or paramedic—thank them. Their courage and dedication remind us that, even in the darkest of times, heroes walk among us.
