At 11:58pm on January 25th, Mahopac Falls Fire was dispatched to a possible brush fire behind 18 Green Lane; caller stated they heard a loud explosion and can see large flames. At 12:00am the call was updated to a rollover MVA with possible entrapment and possible vehicle fire at the intersection of Route 6N and Archer Road. Mahopac Falls Ambulance and Putnam County Medic 3 were dispatched. First unit on scene confirmed a fully involved vehicle fire with live wires surrounding the vehicle. Crews could not put the fire out until the power was shut down. NYSEG was asked to expedite to the scene due to the possibility of there being a patient trapped within the inferno. The driver of the vehicle was self extricated and was taken by ground to the hospital. NYSEG shut down the power and fire was knocked down. Upon further investigation there was only one patient in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Vehicle was taken away and the Fire Department went back in service around 3am. NYSEG stayed on location to replace the pole and down wires.
