Tonight our members took advantage of the clear, warmer weather and conducted a simple dive drill. During the drill our dive team members ran basic patterns in the shallow waters of Lake Mahopac.

Once the patterns were completed, the divers emerged from the waters and “presented” diver related emergency medical symptoms so our EMS crew could practice their diver assessments and proper care for such symptoms.

Also present at the drill were Deputy Neary and Deputy McDonough from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. Both Deputies are valuable members of the dive team and train with MFVFD often.

Drills like these are extremely important for both the divers and our EMS crews as they allow us to train for the worst possible scenario and evaluate the areas that are in need of improvement.
