Today is a good day! This afternoon we were honored to accompany Dobbs Ferry PD, Greenburgh PD, Yonkers PD, Carmel PD, and Carmel Highway in a very special drive-by celebration.

Earlier this year in April, one of our own received the news that nobody ever wants to hear. Stevie Jubak, stepdaughter of MFVFD Board of Director, Rob Mazzei, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. A cancer that is part of the immune system called the lymphatic system.

Soon after being diagnosed, Stevie started immediate and aggressive treatment at Maria Ferreri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY. The treatment consisted of two surgeries, followed by six rounds of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy treatments every two weeks. Through it all, Stevie fought the battle like a true warrior and never lost her sense of hope or humor.

While this disease may have kept her on the sidelines this year and unable to participate in her favorite sports, she is looking forward to the days when she can jump back in!

Today, June 17, 2021, marks the 6th and final round of Chemo and Immunotherapy treatments! We are so proud of the way Stevie handled the diagnoses and her treatments. We are lucky to know a real-life superhero. Congratulations Stevie, YOU DID IT!
