Fire Destroys Secor Road Home

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at approximately 9:15 pm, Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department, along with Carmel Police was dispatched to Secor Road for a reported deck on fire with a possible elderly female inside the residence.

Upon arrival, the Chief of the Department, Jeffrey Boyle, found a 2 and a half story raised ranch with heavy smoke condition and active fire in from the deck that had extended into the structure. Chief Boyle transmitted the working structure fire assignment, putting out mutual aid calls to bring neighboring departments Mahopac Vol. Fire Department with a tanker and manpower as well as Putnam Valley Vol. Fire Department FAS Team to the scene. Mohegan Fire Department was requested to relocate and stand by at the Mahopac Falls headquarters.

As units arrived on location, they initiated a primary search for the elderly female and main body of fire. The search for the occupant came up negative and it was determined that the home was not occupied at the time of the fire. Interior and exterior fire suppression operations were conducted simultaneously, and firefighters had the fire under control within an hour.

One firefighter was transported to Putnam Hospital was non-life-threatening injuries. In addition, the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team was also on location and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
