At 12:08pm, Mahopac Falls Fire and EMS were dispatched to Mahopac High School for two people down from an unknown odor in the building. Arriving personnel found a school employee being tended to by Carmel Police Officer Neil Brown and school custodian Hans Schweizer. Mahopac Falls ambulance transported the stricken employee as a priority. Firefighters checked on the second patient, who refused transport by the mutual aid ambulance from Mahopac Fire Dept., but agreed to go by car to be checked at Putnam Hospital. The building was evacuated and the cause of the substance was traced to contractors in a part of the building under construction using adhesives. Captain Dan Meury took lead as Incident Command with Firefighter Jason Stasiak taking charge of Operations. |
