New Ambulance In Town

Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Dept. has received delivery of "the new kid on the block" in the way of a re-chassied ambulance. For the first time in forty years, it was voted to go with a four-wheel drive Ford 450 truck chassis after having all "van fronts" on our rigs. Because the 4x4 truck chassis rides high, an "air dump" switch has been installed in the cab and at the back door of the patient compartment to lower the back of the rig to a safer working height for the EMS crew. The box of the ambulance (19-7-2) was in good condition so it was decided to have First Priority Group of New Jersey do the work saving a $100k in the process, compared to having to go with a complete new rig. As EMS members go about restocking the cabinets inside and out, driver certification has begun for the drivers.

The recently arrived 19-7-2 goes out on driver certification with Asst. Chief Bob Trace at the wheel and V.P. Lou Scagnelli, instructor.
