I need to go to the hospital, but it's not really an emergency..

A common misconception is that we provide non-emergency ambulance service, such as taking a person to the doctors office or hospital for a routine visit or procedure. Our priority is to provide emergency ambulance service to the residents of the Mahopac Falls Fire Department District, and are unable to provide non-emergency transports due to call volume and resource utilization. There are a number of commercial ambulance services in Putnam County that can provide non-emergency transport and are covered by most insurance companies and HMO plans.

Do I just dial 911 for help ?

911 is designed for emergencies only, such as fire, police, and medical emergency services. All non-emergency calls should be directed to the local office in which you need help.

What can I do help?

The general public can help emrgency responders in many ways. The first and most important way is to post your house numbers where visible in reflective letters. They must be a minimum of 3 inches in height. You can also help by pulling over for red lights on fire trucks and ambulances (it's the law) and by giving our members the courtesy by pulling over for blue lights. (It could be your house we are responding to).
