History Of Mahopac Falls Fire Department

The Mahopac Falls Fire Department was founded in 1937. The Department responds to approximately 250 fire and 500 ambulance calls yearly. The 150-member team is headed by Fire Chief, Annie Link, along with the help of First Assistant Chief Ted Pollack, and Second Assistant Chief Ted Finney.

Two ambulances and eight fire engines are housed in two firehouses; one on route 6N near Red Mills Market, and the other near the intersection of Austin and Bullet Hole Road. Our fire apparatus consists of one pumpers, four tankers, one heavy rescue truck, one brush truck with SCUBA trailer, one utility pickup truck, a hovercraft and our antique 1939 Little Mack.

Firefighters are trained in all basic techniques, including entrance and rescue methods and ladder climbing.

Ambulance personnel are trained as either Certified First Responders or EMT-Bs and can provide CPR and first aid, including defibrillation. The Mahopac Falls Ambulance Corps is New York State certified; both ambulances are equipped with defibrillator units.

Any resident of the fire district 16 years of age or older interested if firefighting or EMS may join the Department. No experience needed and we will provide necessary training free of charge.
